Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme at UK Universities

Brief Description:

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. And Students of such Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK. UK Department for International Development (DFID) funds these scholarships and it has  joint support of UK universities.

Scholarships value/inclusions/duration:

Each Scholarship provides approved tuition and examination fees, approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award, stipend, warm clothing allowance, study travel grant, and excess baggage allowance.
The scholarships are usually tenable for one year only.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Eligibility:

To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarships, candidates must be:
  • A citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • Permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
  • Available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2018
  • By October 2018, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a developed country and unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship

Application instructions:

You should apply to study an eligible Master’s course at a UK university that is participating in the Shared Scholarships scheme. Submit all applications through your chosen university. You must check with your chosen university for their specific advice, admission requirements, and rules for applying. Some universities may require you to complete their own admissions application form as well, which may have a separate closing date.
You must make your application using the CSC’s Electronic Application System (EAS), in addition to any other application that you are required to complete by your chosen university. Submit all applications 23.59 (BST) on 17 April 2018 at the latest. Each university has its own closing date for applications.

UC International First Year Undergraduate Scholarships

Brief description:
The University of Canterbury offers the UC International First Year Scholarship to top-achieving international students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at the University.

Scholarship value/duration:
The scholarship is currently awarded with values of $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000. The duration is for one year.
Eligibility:
Eligible candidates must be full-fee-paying international students and may not be citizens of New Zealand or Australia, or holders of New Zealand residence class visas. They must be completing, or have completed on or after 1 January of the year before the year of application, a University Entrance-level qualification that permits entry into a University of Canterbury undergraduate degree programme. 
Candidates must have applied for admission to the University by 15 August in the year prior to their intended first year of enrolment at the University.

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships

Brief description:
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are merit-based awards that are open to students of any nationality who will be registered as full-time graduate students (Masters or PhD) at the University of Manitoba.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The value of these fellowships is $18,000 (Ph.D.) and is $14,000 (Master’s) for a 12 month period.  Students are eligible to receive the UMGF for the first 24 months of their Master’s program and the first 48 months of their PhD program.


Eligibility:
Academic standing: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.75 (above B+) at a recognized university based on a Bachelor, Masters, Graduate Diploma or a Doctoral degree. Please use admissions criteria in calculating GPA, i.e., last 60 credit hours or equivalent.
Citizenship: All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply.
Fields of study: Students in all fields of graduate study (with the exception of those in the Faculty of Medicine and in the Master of Business Administration [MBA]) are eligible to apply.
You must also meet the specific eligibility criteria set by the Department/Faculty, if any.

Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS) Australia - 2017

Brief description:

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:
The scholarship value is up to $140,500 (Masters) or $272,500 (PhD). It includes travel allowance ($AUD 3,000), establishment allowance ($AUD 4,000), monthly stipend ($AUD 3,000; up to maximum programme duration on a pro-rata basis).  Health and travel insurance will also be provided for international recipients.
Endeavour Scholarship recipients will also receive tuition fees paid up to the maximum study/research duration on a pro-rata basis. Tuition includes student service and amenities fees.
The duration of the scholarship is up to 2 years for a Masters and up to 4 years for a PhD.
Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive an Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:
•  be aged 18 years or over at the commencement of their programme
•  be a citizen and/or permanent resident of a participating country (see above)
• commence their proposed programme after 1 January 2018 and no later than 30 November 2018. Applicants who have already commenced or will commence their intended programme prior to 2017 are not eligible to apply
•  provide all relevant supporting documentation
• not currently hold or have completed, since 1 January 2016, an Australian Government sponsored scholarship and/or fellowship (directly administered to recipients by the Australian Government)
•  not apply for a category in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.
Application instructions:
As part of the eligibility requirements, International Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship applicants must attach a formal admission letter from their proposed Australian institution. A conditional admission letter will be accepted at the time of application. Commencement must be for the 2018 academic year.
Applications are submitted through the Endeavour Online (EOL) system. Applications will  close at 11.59 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 30 June 2017.

Hubert Humphrey Fellowships in USA for International Students - 2017

Brief description:
The Humphrey Fellowship Program is for experienced professionals interested in strengthening their leadership skills through a mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding about issues of common concern in the U.S. and Fellows’ home countries.
Host Institution(s):
Fellows are placed at one of the participating USA universities. Fellows are not able to choose which university they will attend. Rather, they are assigned in diverse groups of 7-15 to the most appropriate host institution based on their area of interest and professional field.

Maastricht University Holland High Potential Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The Holland High Potential Scholarship is intended for excellent students from outside the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) who wish to do a master’s or a professional education programme at Maastricht University.
The Holland High Potential Scholarship consists of a High Potential Scholarship combined with a Holland Scholarship.

The High Potential scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Master’s programme – 12 months in the case of a one-year master’s programme and 24 months in the case of a two-year master’s programme.

  • • You come from a country outside the EU/EEA and meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
  • • You are applying for a full-time master’s programme at Maastricht University.

  • • You are not over 35 years of age at the start of the 2017/18 academic year.
