Denmark Government Scholarships for Non-EU Students

Brief description:
The Denmark Government welcomes highly qualified and motivated international students from all over the world to study in Denmark. A number of scholarships are therefore offered each year by the Danish Ministry of Education to fund students from countries outside the European Union/ European Economic Area. The scholarships can be awarded for a full degree higher education programme.

The government scholarship consists of two parts and can be given as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or grants towards covering your living costs.

In order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship you have to be:
•  A citizen of a country outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
•  Enrolled in a full degree higher education programme.
•  Granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark due to education

The scholarships are administered by the Danish institutions of higher education, each of which decides which students will receive a scholarship. For further information about the government scholarship, please consult the admission details of the higher education institution of your choice. The institution can also inform you about entry requirements, course descriptions, deadlines and student services.
Deadline varies depending on your choice University and study programme. Generally, the deadline falls around March-April for entry in September of the same year or around September-October for entry in February of the following year.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Students

Brief description:
Each year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries.
The research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level.

One of the 10 Swiss cantonal universities, the two Swiss federal institutes of technology or public teaching and research institutes.

University of Newcastle Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Brief description:
Prospective and current research students are eligible to apply for University and Commonwealth Government scholarships, which are awarded during two rounds to domestic and international applicants.

A scholarship funded by the University of Newcastle or the Commonwealth Government provides an annual living allowance $26, 288 per annum (2016 rate – indexed annually). The scholarship may also include:
  • • a relocation allowance (up to $2,020)
  • • a thesis allowance (up to $500)
  • • a full tuition fee scholarship (international students)
  • • overseas student health cover (OSHC) (international students)
PhD scholarships are for three years and Masters scholarships are for two years, less any tenure already completed towards a research degree.
Eligibility:
Eligibility criteria based on Commonwealth Government Scholarship Guidelines and candidates must:
  • • satisfy the English proficiency requirement (IELTS of at least 6.5)
  • • have a current offer of admission into a research higher degree.
  • • have completed at least four years of undergraduate study and have attained Honours Class 1 or equivalent and a high grade point average (GPA)
  • • be no more than two full-time equivalent years into their PhD (or one year for Masters) at the latest outcome date for the round in which they are applying.
Successful international scholarship candidates usually also have:
  • • A master degree with strong research component
  • • International peer reviewed research publication or research experience

TU Delft Excellence Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The Delft University of Technology offers a number of excellence scholarship programs for international students. The Justus & Louise van Effen Scholarship is one of those programs and it aims to financially supporting excellent international MSc students wishing to study at TU Delft.

Westminster International Scholarships

Brief description:
Westminster International Scholarships are fully funded awards aimed at students from developing countries who wish to study a full-time Masters degree at the University.

Cambridge International Scholarships

Brief description:
The University of Cambridge will offer, via the Cambridge Trusts, the Cambridge International Scholarships to highest ranked international students undertaking PhD studies at the University. For UK and EU students, the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards is similarly offered.

A University Committee draws up one ranked list of all PhD candidates across all disciplines.  The only factors taken into consideration in agreeing this list are academic qualifications, references and research potential.  The financial situation of applicants does not affect the selection of scholarship winners.

Applicants should submit the Graduate Application Form, ticking the box to apply to the Cambridge Trust and completing Sections B3 (Cambridge Trust Personal Statement) and B4 (Financial Details for the Cambridge Trust).
